The Overcapacity Effect™
A book for the people who look fine on the outside
and are quietly running out of capacity on the inside.
What This Book Is About
If you’ve ever wondered why you feel exhausted even when you’re technically managing everything fine, felt off but couldn’t quite name what was wrong, or found yourself wondering how much longer you can keep holding everything together, this book is for you.
The Overcapacity Effect™ is about what happens before the breaking point. Not the dramatic collapse, but the quiet one - the space where you’re still showing up, still achieving, still taking care of everyone else, while something underneath is running on empty.
It’s for the high performers, helpers, leaders, caregivers, and people everyone else depends on. The ones who can’t fully shut their brains off, feel emotionally “on” all the time, carry responsibility everywhere they go, and sometimes feel disconnected from themselves underneath it all.
This isn’t a book about simply working less or thinking positive. It’s about understanding what your nervous system has been carrying, recognizing the signs that you’ve exceeded your capacity, and learning what it takes to genuinely recover and reconnect with yourself.
Not perfection. Not pushing through. Reality - and a different way forward.
Meet the Author
I’m Laura Simon. I spent years as a Human Resources leader, holding other people’s stress while quietly running out of my own capacity. My own doctor was blunt with me about what that was costing my body. That conversation changed the direction of my life.
The Overcapacity Effect is the book I needed back then. It’s built from what I’ve learned since - as an HR strategist, certified breathwork facilitator, sound healing practitioner, Reiki Master, and, most importantly, someone who had to learn how to reconnect with herself after spending far too long disconnected from her own needs and nervous system.
